Client feedback:

"Through neurofeedback, I was able to finally  conquer my insomnia and gain control of my life."

"Our son, who is a very smart boy, was practically failing in school. For years we tried everything from medication to therapy and, though those things helped, it was Neurofeedback which really made the difference. Now
he's doing well and
will soon graduate
from high school,
has many friends,
and seems happier
at home, too."

How does Neurofeedback work?
Neurofeedback, a form of Biofeedback, works by training the brain to perform more efficiently. This is done by monitoring the brain activity through sensors and rewarding the brain with a series of beeps when it performs at an optimal level.

How long does it take?
The process begins with a 90 minute intake interview. On the basis of this interview,  a protocol is developed to address your specific problem(s). After that, you schedule a series of 30-minute sessions. For most clients, the number of neurofeedback sessions is between 20-40 and can be done once or twice a week.

What about medications?
The goal of Neurofeedback is to maintain optimum functioning without the use of medications. Many clients come to neurofeedback because they have had negative experiences with medication side-effects or because they don't like the feeling that they are unable to function properly without medications. For some clients who are currently taking medications, slowly discontinuing their use during the neurofeedback process can be the best way to proceed. Any client who is being seen by a prescribing physician should discuss neurofeedback with their practitioner and find a safe way to lower or discontinue their prescription medicine use under medical supervision.
Once I am finished with Neurofeedback, will the effects last?
In most cases, the effect do last. However, some clients report after a certain amount of time the effects seem less strong. For these clients, we suggest a "tune-up, " a few sessions which will again optimize brain function.

Does Neurofeedback work for everyone?
Some estimates suggest that Neurofeedback is effective in about 80% of clients. Unfortunately, no treatment works for everyone. With neurofeedback we usually see improvements within 5-6 sessions. If there is no improvement at that point, another protocol can be tried or session can be discontinued.

Will my insurance cover the cost of Neurofeedback?
Some companies do cover the cost of Neurofeedback, call your insurance to check on the details of your policy.
